Starting from 01 May, applications are being accepted for the Contest of Local Pilot Initiatives aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Belarus.

Additional details regarding participation can be found in the regulations of the Contest (in Russian).

The Contest aims to identify local initiatives in Belarus that will be provided with support to promote sustainable development in the regions. It is expected that the outcomes of these initiatives will be extended nationwide.

From March to April 2024, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Belarus organized a series of informative seminars in all regional centers to better inform potential participants about the competition guidelines and to provide updates on the progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Over 500 individuals, including representatives from regional, district, and city executive bodies, local councils, educational and healthcare institutions, scientific and cultural organizations, social services, and humanitarian-focused public entities, attended these events.

These workshops are being facilitated by UNDP Belarus in collaboration with regional executive bodies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

The Competition is part of the international technical assistance project "Support to the Efforts of the Republic of Belarus in Nationalization and Localization of SDGs", funded by the Russian Federation.
