As part of its commitment to fostering sustainable energy practices globally, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Morocco has launched the Training of Trainers (ToT) program, currently underway in Seoul, South Korea, from April 16th to 26th, 2024.

This ToT program is a key component of the "Capacity Building in Energy Efficiency for Local Authorities" project, funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and implemented in partnership with the Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE). This program follows three successful training series held in Morocco, which focused on energy efficiency in public lighting, industry, and sustainable mobility.

The ongoing ToT session hosts twelve participants from AMEE and UNDP Morocco. It aims to deepen their knowledge of international energy efficiency standards, successful policy frameworks, and the good practices observed in Korea. Facilitated by the Hyundai Research Institute (HRI), the program includes a series of interactive sessions, hands-on workshops, and field visits.

“This Training of Trainers program is a cornerstone in our strategy to support energy efficiency in Morocco. Through our collaboration with KOICA and AMEE, as well as the guidance of the Hyundai Research Institute, we are not only gaining insights into Korea's advanced energy practices but also crafting a sustainable blueprint that local Moroccan authorities can adopt. Our goal is to ensure that the lessons learned here in Seoul translate into actionable and impactful projects that significantly advance our commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development,” said Ms. Amal Nadim, head of the Environment, Energy, and Climate Portfolio at UNDP Morocco. 

This collaborative effort underscores the importance of international partnerships in addressing complex global challenges such as climate change and energy security. It also highlights the commitment of UNDP, KOICA, and AMEE to utilizing their combined expertise and resources, paving the way for a more sustainable and energy-efficient future.
